Me? Creative?

Me? Creative?

Last September, before my fiancé, Kolby, moved here to Florida, he was visiting and we went to the Widdershin's Dark Market and I had a mystical card reading done. The card reader said that I am "too grounded" and that I should put energy into being more creative and letting my head be in the clouds every once in a while. Anyone who knows me can attest that this is 100% accurate! I left that card reading wondering what to do from there-- try a new hobby like painting? sculpture? pottery? I have never thought of myself as creatively gifted so all of these ideas seemed daunting.

Fast-forward to Kolby moving to Florida. His solo music career got traction right away. He was booking gigs left and right and before we knew it, his income from playing music was (and still is) helping pay bills, reduce our debt, and position us for bigger financial goals. It did some other things, too. Keep reading.

Supporting Kolby's music career has gotten me to be more creative than ever before. I often spend week nights designing Instagram posts advertising his upcoming gigs, weekends filming his performances, and at every opportunity taking photos we can use for promo designs.

  • Supporting Kolby's music career has taught me a lot about the pursuit of passion projects. Seeing Kolby enjoying success doing something he loves has been inspiring. And the way it's gotten us to work together has been both a point of strength in our relationship and (hopefully) insight into future endeavors. I have been gradually putting more energy into the idea of more passionately pursuing my own projects, like this blog!

  • When I look back on the card reading I received, I still see the ways I am totally grounded, probably to a fault. However, my daily life has changed so dramatically with a much larger focus on creative, passionate endeavors. I want to encourage you to take some time to think about ways you can grow as a person, which faults you would like to address, ways you can pursue your passions, and reflect on what has changed you for the better.

Live passionately and positively!
